Breakout Tables: Where the Good Ideas Actually Happen

Buying Guides, Office Tables

The best ideas in an office rarely arrive in the meeting room. They turn up in the corridor, at the kettle, or round a small table where two people have stopped for a minute. Breakout tables are built for those spaces. Choose them well and people use them. Choose badly and you end up with a lovely table that holds a few coffee cups.

This is what I would look at, in order.

Standard height or poseur height

The first decision is the height. Standard height, about 73cm, is for people who will sit and work. Poseur height is for a quick stand-up conversation, because a high table keeps a meeting short in a way no agenda ever manages. Plenty of offices want both in the same space, one for the laptop crowd and one for the five minute catch-up. Our poseur and bar height tables cover the high end, and the breakout tables category covers the rest.
